This year's Cul Camp starts on 9th August.
The application forms have started to be distributed to the kids.
For those that want to spread the cost of the cul camp, the youth coaches will accept e.g. £5 a week until the full cost is reached.
If you are applying, i would encourage you fill in the form and get it back as soon as possible.
St. Michael's have recently registered with the Kelloggs Field of Dreams Initiative.
One lucky club in Ireland will win a playing field makeover worth 100,000 euro. All we have to do is collect 700 tokens from special packs of Kelloggs Corn Flakes and Kelloggs Crunch Nuts between now and July.
Spread the word to everyone you know and return your tokens to any of the coaches at the club.
More information can be found here or else log onto the special website www.kelloggs.ie/fieldofdreams
24th April 2010 – Under 10 Blitz at Annaclone
St. Michael's Under 10's were very much up for their first blitz of the season, winning 2 out of their 3 matches. Every player done really well and was given time in both the forward and back lines, therefore able to apply both their defensive and attacking skills.
John Paul McKeown and Ethan Henderson played well in all areas of the pitch. Ellen McAtarsney played particularly well in defence protecting the goalkeeper and marking her opponent tightly. Shannon Hamill was most notable in the forward lines showing good catching ability and quick accurate passing whilst under pressure. Shea McCabe showed composure in both attack and defence, which give confidence to his other team mates. Owen Lavery and Matthew McAtarsney were very quick to get the ball and in possession of the ball, lending support to the midfielders.
I think the preparation required and rules on the day are simple but effective. One late rule introduced was the zones, which give the players a good sense of positional play.
In general, the event achieved the county's objective of providing youth development and a family day out in a safe environment, with minimal organisation required. I think all the kids from all the clubs enjoyed themselves.
St. Michaels would like to thank the U10 Catering division – Ursala's diner, their hosts – Annaclone, the organisers – Fionntan O'Dowd & Tullylish, and the other clubs that took part. St. Michaels U10s look forward to the remainder of the season.
To promote respect within the youth game, the GAA has publishes some guidelines for players, supporters, referees and coaches.
These are available online at http://www.gaa.ie/youth-zone/gaa-respect-initiative/ Some hard copies have been distributed to the kids and more are available from the youth coaches.

St. Michael's 1-5 Tullylish 2-9
In this home encounter, St. Michael's u-12's looked to be on track for their first points of the season. Both teams were level at half time on a scoreline of 1-2 each.
St. Michael's went into a one point lead mid way through the second half, however a late flurry of scores from the more experienced Tullylish side gave them a 2-9 to 1-5 win.
Following St. Michaels' friendly away to Dromara, the U-12's have since played two games in the South Down league.
They first had a home game against Drumgath in which they lost 3-4 to 1-4 despite a spirted second half performance. Next up was a disappointing game away to Aghaderg, in which St. Michael's were well beat despite scoring a couple of late goals.
Next game is at home to Tullylish on Sunday 29th April at 11.00 am.
